RIP Twitter? What Brands Need To Know About Meta’s Threads
Wake up 👀 New social media platform just dropped.
The expectation of another new social media platform can be overwhelming for brands, and Meta’s early launch of their new Twitter competitor, Threads, is one of the biggest changes to happen to social media in years. With 70 MILLION users signing up for Threads since it’s launch, this app is not showing signs of slowing down anytime soon, so we’ve put together our top 5 things to know about Threads.
#1 The user experience is extremely similar to Twitter
You can share short-form written content, videos, and photos, just as you can on Twitter. The home page is a discovery feed where you get all of the latest and trending conversations that are happening in real time. The main difference so far is that Threads does not have a feed specific to only people you follow. This is expected to change over the next couple of weeks as the algorithm gets more sophisticated and new features are released.
#2 Take advantage of early organic reach
First mover advantage on new social media platforms is REAL. When TikTok first launched, it was easy for content creators and brands to gain traction with their engagement and following, simply because of organic reach. Jumping into Threads early can drive awareness in a brand new audience much more efficiently and quickly than existing platforms.
#3 BeREAL or lose out on authentic communities
As one of the quickest growing social media platforms from the last several years indicates, it’s important to BeReal in today’s day and age of social media marketing. Users crave authenticity, and there’s no better time to be authentic than a new, imperfect social media platform. Take it from the likes of organic social media giants like Duolingo and Ryanair, genuine content can take your brand to the next level.
#4 Plan for new advertisement experiences
While ads are not currently being served on Threads, you can count that they’re coming. Ads are expected to be run as specific placements through Meta Ads Manager and will likely feature the standard Meta video and static ads. However, you should expect new ad types like text-only ads, similar to Twitter’s Promoted Text ads, as well as Promoted Poll ads.
#5 There is no way to delete your Threads account
Now here’s the catch. Once you join Threads, there is currently no way to delete your account unless you want to ALSO delete your Instagram account. This forces you to continuously put in effort to maintain your brand presence, which can be tricky as it is more text-based than most existing platforms outside of Twitter. So unless you’re ready to commit, evaluate whether the potential organic growth and brand presence makes sense for your business.

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
Static and dynamic content editing
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
How to customize formatting for each rich text
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
